Generation-e is committed to promoting sustainability. To accomplish this, we adhere to environmentally responsible business practices that reduce the environmental impacts of our activities.
Our Sustainable Business Practices include:
- All printers set to automatically print double sided and in black & white
- Internal packaging and equipment recycling program
- Carpooling is encouraged among employees (ride share information is available to employees)
- Power Management (software that saves energy by automatically turning off idle printers & computers)
- All office equipment is on a timer to turn off after working hours
- Virtualization of servers
- Lights are turned off when room is not in use and where possible dimmable ballasts have been installed to dim lights when daylight is available
- Recycled paper & office supplies
- Purified water is provided instead of plastic water bottles
- Project management (shorter timelines)
- Blinds are routinely closed to reduce heat gain/loss
- Windows are tinted with thermal reflective tint
- Laptop computers are given to all mobile employees to consume less energy
- Access to hazardous products is limited to authorised personnel
- Employees are encouraged to link business trips to accomplish meetings and errands in a single outing
- Company vehicles are routinely checked for leaks and staining on pavement
- Environmentally friendly promotional products
- Company purchases are centralized to eliminate unnecessary purchases
- Employees are encouraged to bring in their own plates/containers/utensils to eliminate disposable items
- Computer faxing is enabled to allow for faxing without printing
- Recycling bins are available for paper, plastic, glass, and aluminium
- Toner cartridges are recycled
- Remote Access (VPN) to support telecommuting
- Recycling of all cardboard products
- Microsoft OCS in use to help minimise travel
