Challenge

Deloitte had high-speed wide area links (from 6 to 155Mb/s) and relative to most companies in Australia, Deloitte's links were already at the high end of speed.  With a growing base of around 4,000 users, Deloitte identified that they couldn't just continue to increase link speed to cope with demand.

IT Environment

With offices in major cities throughout Australia and New Guinea, Deloitte has a sophisticated range of technologies in place. Applications include advanced storage, Voice over IP, Security, Secure Remote Access, Financials, CRM, Databases and Email.

Solution

Deloitte trialled Juniper WXC WAN Accelerators from Generation-e between their Sydney and Adelaide offices. When the trial concluded, Adelaide staff lobbied hard and fast to get their WAN performance back again and an order was placed to upgrade all sites.

Generation-e installed Juniper WAN Accelerators on each site. This has increased the WAN performance better than 8-fold with no increase in WAN costs for users in remote sites accessing the Sydney Data Centre. These “remote” sites included small cities like Melbourne and Sydney! The WAN acceleration implementation has given a LAN experience to users on the WAN.

The solution makes it easier for IT to manage the centralised infrastructure and users have benefited from far better performance on their applications.
