How it works?

The traditional model for residential estate developments would include four or five separate property entry points for copper cabling and devices - satellite installation, phone line, roof top cabling, internet access points, HD transmission lines, TV ariels, and so on. The NBN roll out will see optical fibre networks replace the traditional copper networking to homes, allowing Generation-e to provide superior telecommunications services with virtually unlimited capacity across Australia.

We make the complicated stuff simple

Generation-e’s FTTH networks utilise the world leading Passive Optical Network (PON) technology, creating one property entry point to homes and doing away with the complexities of traditional copper networks with multiple entry points.

Unlike copper wiring, fibre offers virtually unlimited bandwidth. This means that as future applications drive more and more bandwidth demands, the capacity of fibre-optic networks is readily available to accommodate them.

The estate’s entire infrastructure is housed in a central data centre.
The data centre connects to each home via the PON fibre optic cable, no greater than 2cm wide.
The PON connects to the homes internal Optical Network Terminal (ONT).
The ONT services the homes' telecommunications set up.
